The winners of the 7th Estilo De Vida Competition, one of the highlights of this year’s PHILCONSTRUCT, presented by The Home Depot- were announced last November 13, 2010 at the Function Hall 1 of the SMX Convention Center. Rodell Estrella of Eulogio “Amang” Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology (EARIST) bagged the first place while Mark Gicana of University of the East Caloocan placed second and Mary Grace Reyes of College of The Holy Spirit went home third place among the 37 interior design students who joined the competition.
Now on its 7th year, Estilo De Vida is a yearly clash among the up and coming interior designers in the country. Following the theme “Boutique Hotel”, several interior design students from different universities around the country went to different branches of The Home Depot – Ortigas, Alabang, Balintawak, Manila Bay and Pampanga, to scout finishing and furnishing products they can use for their design.
The pre-judging ceremony was held last October 2, 2010 at The Home Depot, downing the 37 entries to 10 and was later on brought down to the final 3 who will showcase their actual designs for the final judging during PHILCONSTRUCT 2010.
Estrella, Gicana and Reyes all had a taste of what it’s like to be real interior designers as they brought to life their plates with the help of The Home Depot’s brand and product sponsors- Cebu Oversea Hardware Co. Inc, Westpoint Industrial Sales Co., Cool Sanitary Wares, Rocca Sanitary Wares, Firefly Electric and Lighting, White Horse Ceramics, Akari Lights, Hafele Furniture Fittings and Locks, Megaman Lights, Hunter Fans, Westpoint Glass Blocks, Kent Floors, Marslojd Lights, and furnitures from The Home Depot Hopme Interior Superstore. The Home Depot continues its mission to become instrumental in honing the future interior designers of the country. It takes pride in extending all the support it can give to the players of the building and construction industry. Estilo De Vida is one of the events The Home Depot sponsors.
