PICE on Solving Metro Manila Traffic: The Civil Engineers’ Way

Catering to all Civil Engineers and, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) East Metro Manila Chapter held its educational forum at CW Home Depot Ortigas Events Room last January 28, 2016. Themed as “ Forum on Solving Metro Manila Traffic Congestion: The CE Way”, the seminar aimed to inform attendees on how to tackle traffic within Metro Manila, where it is a relevant and timely issue. 

 

Attended by over 40 civil engineers from the said institution. It was graced by the chapter president, Engr. Gilbert B. Magbutay. Along with these, Engr. Rene S. Santiago, past EMMC President laid down anatomy of traffic in Metro Manila. Later on Dr. Primitivo C. Cal shared the goverment's initiative in solving the recurring problem of our country regarding traffic congestion especially on major roads. Followed with another resource speaker, Engr. Isaac S. David, who discussed the effects of traffic in the private sector. The forum was an eye opener to all attendees as it provides a better perspective in understanding road congestion which affects not only people's time but more so on the business sector.

 

The committee also invited prominent people to be the reactor from the panelist namely: Engr. George D. Esguerra, Chief Operating Officer of Transport and Traffic Planners and former DOTC Assistant Secretary; Dr. Sheila G. Napalang, Director of National Center for Transportation Studies; Dr. Francis Aldrine Uy, Dean of Engineering of Mapua Institute of Technology; Ms. Susan Belen, President of Pasig City Chamber of Commerce; and Dr. Carlos Mendoza from MTD. The events was concluded with a question and answer moderated by Engr. Gilbert Magbutay and was officially ended by EMMC immediate past president Engr. Estelita Y. Gutierrez.
